At high tide, it disappears completely beneath the sea. As the tide falls, a tiny patch of white sand slowly emerges — a minuscule island in the middle of an enormous reef. And beneath the surface, is the real reason to come. The reef drops away into blue water on every side. The visibility is usually incredible. Much of the reef is in excellent condition, with hard and soft corals, enormous schools of reef fish and plenty of larger fish cruising the deeper edges. Turtles are frequently seen here too. For snorkellers, Takat Segele is one of the best sites around Sumbawa. For divers, it is a superb and remarkably little-used dive site. The remarkable part?
